It is that time again. The 2024 Annual California/Nevada Section is fast approaching! Save the date for Wednesday, February 14th, 2024. We will be back at the Southern California Edison Energy Education Center in Tulare, CA, across from the World Ag Expo.

ASABE AIM @Omaha

The ASABE Annual International Meeting (AIM) will be taking place this week from Monday, July 10th through Wednesday, July 12th in Omaha Nebraska at the Hilton Omaha Nebraska and CHI Health Center #ASABE23.

Every year CA/NV Section members gather together for an Annual Section Luncheon @AIM. This year the luncheon will be on Tuesday, July 11th at The Old Spaghetti Works. RSVP if you plan on attending.

ZOOM ACCESS: Annual Section Mtg 2/14/22

In a change from past years, this year’s CA/NV Annual Meeting will take place in conjunction with AETC at the Fresno Convention and Entertainment Center from 5:30 to 8:15 pm Tuesday, February 14th.

The meeting will be in person and include a Student Poster Competition, Business Meeting, update from ASABE leadership, and a keynote speaker.

Feb 2023: Rally, AETC, Annual Meeting

February 2023 will be a busy, eventful month for the Section with several events taking place in Fresno, CA. Events include:

4th Annual Student Rally

The 4th Annual CA/NV Student Rally will be hosted by CSU Fresno from Saturday, February 11th until Sunday, February 12th. Activities will include a tour of Fresno State’s Center for Irrigation Technology and Citrus Packing Teaching Laboratory, Industry Tours, Engineering Design Competition, and Career Panel as well as an opportunity to network with professionals attending the Agricultural Equipment Technology Conference.

Agricultural Equipment Technology Conference

The Agricultural Equipment Technology Conference (AETC) will be coming to California for the first time. Hosted by ASABE, this conference will take place from Sunday, February 12th until Tuesday, February 14th at the Fresno Convention and Entertainment Center.

There are many opportunities for ASABE Student Members to get involved. Undergraduate and graduate student members are able to apply for free registration to attend! Registration is limited, apply here. You can also submit your abstract to be a poster presenter during the Poster Session and Competition. Both graduate and undergraduate can participate. Poster entries are due by January 31st.

CA/NV Annual Meeting

Are you an ABE (Agricultural or Biological Engineering) student or professional, or in one of the many related fields?

  • Engineering: Biosystems, Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical;
  • Animal or Veterinary Science;
  • Hydrology and Irrigation Technology;
  • Viticulture and Enology;
  • Horticulture or Plant Science;
  • Soil Science, Entomology, or Nematology;

Are you interested in learning more about a discipline that exists at the intersection of people, animals and the environment?

Have you ever wondered to yourself: “What even is an Agricultural and Biological Engineer?” You may just be starting out or have been in the major for several years and still wondering what it is all about? What can one do with a degree in Ag and Bio Engineering? What jobs are out there? What areas of work? What future job or post graduate studies options are available to you? The 3rd ASABE CANV Student Rally is a unique opportunity that can help you find the answers to some of these questions while meeting other students with interests similar to you. The Rally will be hosted, in person, by Cal Poly San Luis Obispo’s BioResource & Agricultural Engineering Dept over Veteran’s Day weekend. Attendees can expect a 1.5 day event beginning at Noon on Friday, Nov 11th and concluding Saturday, Nov 12, at 3:30 PM.

Activities will include a tour of CalPoly SLO and the BRAE Department, local industry tours, career/alumni panel, and fun opportunities to make new friends such as the bonfire on the beach. Nov 11-12, 2022: Student Rally @ CalPoly SLO

We are excited to announce the upcoming 3rd annual ASABE CANV Student Rally will be hosted, in person, by Cal Poly San Luis Obispo’s BioResource & Agricultural Engineering Department over Veteran’s Day weekend (Fri, Nov 11-Sat, Nov 12, 2022). Attendees can expect a 1.5 day event beginning Friday, Nov 11th around noon and concluding Saturday afternoon. More info regarding activities will be announced soon. Jan Update & 2022 Annual Meeting

Annual Meeting

The 2022 Annual Meeting will be held virtually over zoom on Wed, February 9th, 2022 from 5:00-8:30 PM.

Registration is $5 for students and $10 for all other members and guests and can be done at the following website: https://na.eventscloud.com/canv2022

The meeting will include:

  • Student Poster Competition (due Mon, Feb 7th);
  • Business Meeting with Section Updates;
  • Updates from ASABE leadership; and
  • Keynote Speaker, Steve Zicari, who will talk about recycling food and food waste

Student Poster Competition

The annual student poster competition will take place during the 2022 annual meeting. Posters are due by Monday, February 7th and can be submitted via a Box Link. Participants must submit a poster and 3-5 minute video summarizing the poster and its findings.

The competition is offered at the graduate and undergraduate levels. First, second, and third place in each category are awarded a $300, $150, and $75 cash price, respectively. Examples of award winners from past years may be found on the Section Awards Page.
